About Me
I identify as a Hispanic-Mexican woman, bilingual in English and Spanish, and a parent myself. I am the child of immigrant parents, the oldest sibling, and the first in my family to attend university. These identities and experiences are not peripheral to my work—they are foundational to how I understand people, relationships, and systems.
Growing up, I learned responsibility early and developed resilience through necessity. I became deeply attuned to family roles, generational expectations, cultural identity, and the unspoken dynamics that shape how individuals learn to adapt, perform, and carry responsibility. These early experiences fostered a nuanced understanding of family systems and the emotional complexity that often exists beneath strength and competence.
As a parent, I also understand the layered realities of caregiving, leadership, and being a source of stability for others—while still holding personal emotional needs of one’s own. I recognize the tension many individuals experience between responsibility and self-attunement, and the quiet exhaustion that can accompany being relied upon.
These lived experiences have shaped my belief that strength and vulnerability are not opposites, but can coexist. Healing often begins when individuals feel genuinely seen—without judgment, without pressure to perform, and without the expectation of having it all figured out.
My clinical work is grounded in empathy, compassion, and emotional safety, while also valuing accountability and intentional change. Therapy is not about perfection or forced optimism; it is a space for honest reflection, thoughtful pacing, and rebuilding from what has been endured.
Inclusivity and advocacy are integral to how I practice. I remain attentive to cultural identity, family roles, acculturation stress, and systemic factors that influence emotional well-being, ensuring that the therapeutic space is respectful, informed, and responsive to the full context of a client’s life.
About My Private-Pay Practice
I created Garnica Transformative Counseling & Psychotherapy Studio out of a desire to offer a different kind of therapeutic experience—one that prioritizes depth, continuity, and thoughtful, individualized care—rather than insurance mandates. Over years of clinical practice, I observed how meaningful therapeutic work can be constrained by external systems that place limits on pacing, duration, and clinical judgment. I wanted to create a space where therapy could unfold with intention, flexibility, and respect for the complexity of each individual’s needs.
A private-pay structure allows for a smaller, carefully maintained caseload, which protects the quality, focus, and consistency of the work. It also allows for greater scheduling flexibility, including the ability to adjust session frequency as needs change, offer continuity of care over time, and provide space for maintenance or ongoing support when appropriate. For many clients, this means therapy can serve not only as a response to weekly needed care, but as a sustained resource for growth, integration, and long-term well-being.
Equally important, this model allows therapy to be tailored more precisely to each individual. Treatment can be adapted thoughtfully as insight deepens, life circumstances shift, or goals evolve—without the constraints or disruptions that often accompany insurance-based care. This flexibility supports a more responsive, collaborative therapeutic process and allows the work to remain grounded, clinically sound, and aligned with what is most supportive for you.
At its core, this practice reflects my commitment to offering therapy that is spacious, intentional, and deeply respectful of the person seeking care. Garnica Transformative Counseling & Psychotherapy Studio exists to provide a setting where clients can engage in meaningful therapeutic work—at a pace that honors their capacity, history, and aspirations—within a relationship built on trust, focus, and continuity.
